Mixie Bottle Review: Best Bottle For Formula Feeding Babies

If you are a formula-feeding Mama, these are one of the best investments you will ever make!!!

best bottles for gassy formula fed babies

This bottle has been my sanity saver! It has completely changed feeding time for us.
I wish I knew about this bottle earlier. So many nights I stumbled out of my bed in the dark and into the kitchen trying to get formula powder into a bottle while I was half awake.

With Mixie all I have to do is simply reach over on my nightstand, pop the button on the bottom of the bottle, give it a few shakes and have a stress-free feeding time.

I always hated having to carry around my can of formula everywhere and the closest solution I could find was a formula dispenser, and that just didn’t make the cut for me...I also hated having to waste expensive formula because the bottle was set out too long while we were out.

With this bottle, there is no need to carry around a cooler and ice packs to chill pre-mixed formula. I simply mix the bottle on demand. Since the formula is only good for 2hrs once it is mixed with water, I no longer need to worry about expensive formula wasting, because this bottle keeps formula and water separate till you are ready for it.

Its just pure genius to be able to store formula powder and water in one unit and only mix, at feeding time. It makes going out so much easier. I just have to push a button and shake to get the bottle ready before a total meltdown happens!

How to Use the Mixie Bottle

Scoop formula powder into the Mixie formula compartment, tap gently after each scoop on a hard surface to settle powder then press the lid on to seal.
Ensure lid is sealed tightly all the way around. The bottle’s formula compartment loads from the bottom of the bottle and water is added from the top, so replace the formula compartment and screw the bottom on firmly. Then add your water from the top and screw on the cover. There are very few parts to clean which is always a plus for me. Mixie bottles also feature a special nipple venting system which reduces colic symptoms.

Things to note:

  • Mixie bottles are available in two sizes: 4 oz and 8 oz bottles. I suggest getting the 8 oz size from the start. They will last longer as your baby grows.
  • The 4 oz bottles come with Stage 1 nipples (for newborn-3 months) and the 8 oz bottles come with Stage 2 nipples (for 3 – 6 months). Stage 3 nipples are sold separately.
  • All of the Mixie bottle parts are BPA, Phthalate, and PVC free. They are also dishwasher and microwave safe.
  • The bottles are wide-neck and Dr. Brown wide neck nipples and some Avent wide neck nipples do fit and work great.
  • From experience with silicone bottle parts, constant exposure to heat messes with their ability to seal. My suggestion is to wash the silicone parts with warm soapy water and keep in the fridge.
  • The formula compartment and bottom of the bottle needs to be dry before assembling or filling with formula!
  • To prevent the formula from clumping press the bottom a few times while shaking the bottle. Also don't just shake the bottle up and down, shake in different motions also.
  • One thing that may catch you off guard a little, is the measurements on the bottle. When you fill your Mixie with water and the formula compartment is full of powder and attached, it’s going to say the correct amount of ounces. As soon as you pop the formula compartment, you’ve opened up more space for that liquid so your bottle will read 2 ounces less.
  • This is a lifesaver for new parents that barely sleep.
  • These bottles are great to prepare and take to daycare or leave with caregivers who do not know how to do the formula thing or those who like to overfeed your baby.
